Jonsi covers MGMT, interviewed on BBC Radio 1

by mikeflanagan1

Jonsi performed “Go Do,” the first track off his album Go, and a cover of MGMT’s “Time to Pretend.” The former is stripped down to its basest form, performed with only ukulele and Jonsi’s untouchable falsetto. In the latter, Jonsi replaces MGMT’s dance hall synth with subdued piano trills and sings audibly in English for the very first time.

In the interview, which you can listen to here, Jonsi talks about everything from his broken ukulele to hairstyle timeline. He seems to respond much more warmly to this interviewer than he did to Luke Burbank when Sigur Ros went on NPR to give the worst interview of all time:

Go will be released internationally starting the week of April 5. Read my review here or on AbsolutePunk.net.

Thanks to Steve P. Fahey for the heads up.
